Victoria Beckham’s Spring and Summer 2011 Collection at New York Fashion Week

Victoria Beckham has graduated from pop star, to fashion icon, to true designer. Her last few collections have been well received by celebrities and fashionistas alike and her designs seem to be going from strength to strength. This year, her Spring/Summer 2011 collection is feminine and striking with lots of beautiful figure hugging designs. Here’s what Mrs Beckham had to show the fash pack at New York Fashion Week.

Colour

Often seen in blacks and greys, Victoria Beckham went against type and opted for some bright and juicy citrus colours. Block colour mandarin dresses were showcased alongside deep and sumptuous purples, as well as bright yellow. Monochrome was also a key colour combination, with several completely white dresses, as well as black dresses, and dresses which incorporated both black and white. Different shades of pink were seen throughout the collection, from dusky pinks, to nudes, to deeper brownish shades. Shiny metallics were also a key part of the collection with the models wearing dresses in silver, shimmering blue and steel.

Style

Victoria’s show at New York Fashion week was full of feminine and sleek dresses. Her ladylike designs included sleeveless dresses with a belted waist and puff ball skirt. The collection boasted a new take on the shift dress which featured contrasting top and bottom colours that met in the middle in an arching curve. There were also long and stunning floor length dresses, some of which had a simple slash neck whilst others had a plunging neckline and a thigh high slit.

Spaghetti strap dresses with simple knee length designs were featured in shimmering materials, whilst studs were used to add interest to some of the shift dresses. The prom dress was showcased to great effect, with a beautiful heart shaped bodice and full skirt with simple striped detail. There were also dresses in a Grecian style which featured loose flowing material that was gathered over one shoulder and then hung down in folds.

Accessories

The models wore gold pointed court shoes with some these shoes including an ankle strap. The accessories were minimal; however, some of the models were sporting round retro looking dark sunglasses. The handbags on show included under the arm clasp bags as well as larger bags with straps and handles. The bags were smart and structured with crocodile texture as well as suede and leather finishes.

The Spring/Summer collection Victoria Beckham unveiled at New York Fashion Week was sleek and stylish. The crisp lines and minimal detailing made the collection distinctive yet very wearable. Her bold choice of bright colours ensure the collection is ideal for the warmer spring and summer months, whilst the monochrome pieces looked smart making them perfect for office wear. Her evening gowns were minimal yet luxurious, with beautiful swathes of sumptuous material. Victoria Beckham’s latest collection shows her to be a grown-up designer with a distinctive style which celebrates the feminine shape whilst avoiding anything twee of fussy.

Who is a Famous Fashion Designer?

Whether you are interested in learning how to become a fashion designer or just want to learn a bit more about the industry in general, one of the first steps you are going to need to take is to educate yourself on the fashion designer icons that are out there.

Michael Kors

One of the most popular fashion designer icons of our time is Michael Kors. This fashion designer is truly unlike any other, and one that anyone who is interested in anything to do with fashion is going to want to learn more about.

Kars began designing clothes at the young age of 19, and at this point in time has definitely made his mark in the fashion world. You may have seen him on the ever popular show Project Runway with the beautiful Heidi Klum, and in addition to the Michael Kors runway collection, the MICHAEL Michael Kors and KORS Michael Kors lines were launched in the year 2004.

All of his lines are extremely popular and currently, Kors has collection boutiques in New York, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, Miami, and South Coast Plaza.

Tommy Hilfiger

This is another very popular fashion designer. Hilfiger is always aiming to work with a product for the people, and early on in his career, Hilfiger ran an ad campaign that proclaimed that he along with Perry Ellis, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein are the “4 Great American Designers for Men”.

Calvin Klein

That brings us to the next designer. The last fashion designer to be discussed here is Calvin Klein. Another extremely popular designer, and one that you have probably heard of before, is Calvin Klein. Many people are more aware of his infamous underwear ads featuring sexy men than anything else, but regardless, Calvin Klein is a tremendously talented designer.

These are just three examples of the various different fashion designers that are out there. Especially if you are planning to have any sort of a career in fashion, you are definitely going to need to start by learning about many more designers than just these, so that you are aware of what is out there and make yourself more familiar on the different designers.

Fashion is a truly incredible industry, one that you can do much more than profit from. If you are a creative person you can find an outlet in having a fashion career, and will enjoy it for the rest of your life because it is constantly changing so you will never get bored.

Quality of Young Fashion Designer

As the saying goes, ‘Clothes make a gentleman’ (without being gender biased, lets add on ‘and a gentlewoman to it’!), over the years people have become conscious about their looks and one’s outfit is what plays a major role in it (with the right attitude, that is always needed).

Obvious as it seems, fashion designers are sought after greatly by the wealthy and the famous, as they are in the public attention and media focus constantly. A young fashion designer is a very nice term to be referred to but it isn’t as easy as one-two-three to be there.

Fashion designing can be defined as a practical art that involves design of fashion wear, garments, and clothes in general along with other lifestyle accessories.

A good fashion designer is paid heftily and what better than to be getting paid high when young. A good fashion designer needs oodles of talent and creativity coupled with some solid education and opportunities.

Education regarding fashion designing along with talent can make a young designer earn a fortune alongside fame and a crowd of admirers.
Many wannabe young fashion designers assume fashion designing to be a not-so-difficult profession to be in and a lot more young fashion designers neglect the need of a formal education in fashion designing. A fashion institute teaches a young fashion designer (aspirant) the basics of fashion- the clothing, the pattern making, sewing and so on.

Although, this isn’t a must, it enhances a young fashion designer’s knowledge on fashion which can be helpful in the future. It boosts the morale of a designer and gets rid of the feeling of insecurity which many young fashion designers are bugged down with.

Today, young fashion designers are many in numbers and have a lot of opportunities in the world of fashion. New innovative designs, graphics and outfits come up every season. T-shirts, jeans, trousers, shirts, traditional wears, ethnic wears etc from around the world are experimented with to form unique attires unknown to the fashion world before.

Modern fashion designing has two categories, namely ‘haute couture’ and ‘ready to wear’. While ‘haute couture’ refers to the custom made and sewn outfits that is usually done for private clients, ‘ready to wear’ refers to the range of collections which aren’t custom made and which come in standard sizes and fitting.

A young fashion designer needs to have something which makes him/her stand out in the crowd. A young fashion designer can be called a pro, if he/she really re-defines fashion!!!
